MIRJAM ORTHEN

Mirjam Orthen was born in Dachau, Germany, in 1984. She did her first film internship at the age of 17 on the set of a TV-drama series directed by Michael Verhoeven. After graduating from high school in 2004, she worked as a production assistant for Sven Burgemeister and Christoph Müller at Goldkind Film and later for Helmut Dietl at Diana Film. From 2007 to 2016 she studied fiction directing at the University of Television and Film Munich.

Her student films Father Language, We Have A Mission and ADA have been shown worldwide at international film festivals and have won renowned awards. In 2016/17 she was a scholar at DrehbuchWerkstatt München, a one-year screenplay mentoring program.

Since May 2019, she has been permanently employed part-time at the University of Television and Film Munich as an Artistic Assistant in the Department of Fictional Directing.

As a writer she is developing various original feature-length projects and is always looking forward to new offers and collaborations.
